Magic Isn't Strange
When superheroes cast spells is it all an illusion or is it real? For centuries magicians have used scientific principles to make people levitate in mid-air and vanish in the blink of an eye. Campers will be taken on a journey of the magic world. Students will discover firsthand how magicians use science to create their illusions. Campers will use the Engineering Design Process to become magicians as they explore the world of magic.

It’s A Bird, It’s a Plane , It's a Flying Technology !
Campers are introduced to the field of aeronautical engineering as they design a variety of flying technologies. After experimenting with vertical wind tunnels and spinning discs, campers are asked to design model flying technologies to help their superhero conquer villains. They will use each step of the Engineering Design Process as they become aeronautical engineers and design their own flying technology.

Put a Lid on It: Engineering Safety Helmets
How do superheroes crash into buildings without damaging their brain? When people bike, board, or play ball, they wear a helmet to keep them safe. But how do helmets work? Students participating in this course will learn how different types of helmets are constructed and how they protect the brain. They will use each step of the Engineering Design Process as they become biomechanical engineers and design their own helmet to crash test.

Protecting Ancient Artifacts: Replicating an Artifact -
The city of Wakanda is trying to prevent explorers from stealing their artifacts. Students will explore rocks and minerals and the properties of materials in the field of Materials Engineering as they identify a material to replicate a petroglyph (rock carving) from their archeologist mother’s study site. During this course, students learn how to compare and categorize different materials, differentiate between the three types of rocks, and practice the methods archaeologists use to protect and replicate their discoveries. Campers will follow the steps of the Engineering Design Process to imagine, plan, create, and improve their own petroglyph replicas.

What’s in your DNA ?
DNA is the blueprint for the cells in every living organism, but did you know how that blueprint is written? Can your DNA be manipulated to have super powers? In this course campers will become genetic engineers to learn how DNA impacts our life. Campers will follow the steps of the Engineering Design Process to imagine how to create a superhero with genetic engineering.
Service Name

Soapbox Derby
Every superhero needs a cool car. Campers will explore the world of automotive engineering to design and create a soapbox car. Students will learn the laws of motion and apply it to design a car. Campers will follow the steps of the Engineering Design Process to imagine how to imagine, create and improve on their design to build a car fit for a superhero.
Service Name

Ice Cream Design Challenge
All work and no play makes for a tired superhero. In this course, campers will discover how ice cream gets to be so creamy and delicious. Not every recipe tastes great on the first try. Process engineers carefully create and improve recipes to control the color, texture, flavor, and shelf life of a product. Students participating in this unit become process engineers by using the Engineering Design Process to create a step-by-step process for engineering their own ice cream.
